University of Bath Partners with Wiley University Services to Launch First Fully Online Programs

Hoboken, N.J. (October 17, 2018) – In a new partnership with Wiley University Services, a division of Wiley that provides tailored services and technology solutions to higher education institutions, the University of Bath will launch its first fully online master’s degree programs as part of an initiative to broaden its international reach. The first programs, set to launch in 2019, will be the MSc Applied Economics (Banking & Finance), the MSc Computer Science, and the MSc Entrepreneurship Management and Innovation. Two more master’s degree courses will be added in 2020, including the MSc Business Analytics.

Although the University currently offers several programs delivered through distance learning formats, they have physical attendance requirements. The new online programs will be the first fully online courses at the University that do not require a campus presence and can be completed entirely remotely.

“By lifting the campus attendance for these programs, it makes them more accessible to adult learners who are balancing a busy schedule of work and family responsibilities,” said Professor Bernie Morley, Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Bath. “We are pleased that our new online programs will not only help the University attract more students, but will also increase our reach into a new student demographic, particularly mid-career professionals.

Ranked as one of the top 10 universities in the UK and well-known internationally, the University of Bath also aims to build on its reputation and influence by expanding access to students around the world who are unable to attend classes on campus but are interested in obtaining a degree from the University.

Wiley will work with the University to design the online programs and implement their delivery. Wiley will also provide student support and marketing in the UK and internationally. The agreement stipulates a 10-year partnership, with an option to extend it.

“We are excited to be collaborating with the University of Bath on the delivery and support structure for their new distance learning programs,” said Matt Hillman, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Wiley University Services. “With the creation of these programs, we are helping the University bring its high-quality teaching and curricula into the fully online space, which will increase the number of students who can benefit from a University of Bath education.”

Professor Morley added: “The University set up a very rigorous procurement exercise to identify its partner in online education. Wiley demonstrated that they could meet the University specification in all core areas and illustrated a commitment to partnership, which may well extend into other areas of expertise deeper in the partnership.”

Wiley and the University of Bath will continue to work closely together as they develop, launch, and maintain the online programs.
