Grants will help universities boost student outcomes through innovation
Oak Brook, IL (November 27, 2019) – Wiley University Services, a division of Wiley (NYSE: JW.A and JW.B) that provides tailored services and technology solutions for university and enterprise partners, is awarding grants to faculty and administrators at four universities. Wiley plans to award these grants annually to support university efforts to boost student outcomes through innovation.
All administrators, faculty and adjuncts at Wiley partner institutions are eligible to submit grant proposals. This year, the winning proposals will receive a combination of funds and access to Wiley resources with a total value of $100,000. The 2019 recipients include:
- Angela Fedon, Ph.D., Director of Classroom Innovation & Online Education, Concordia University, Nebraska. Fedon will lead a project that updates Concordia Nebraska’s Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction program to use open educational resources (OER). Wiley will provide instructional design guidance to redevelop courses for OER.
- Anya Evmenova, Ph.D., Associate Professor, College of Education and Human Development, George Mason University. Evmenova will study effective methods to conduct self-assessments online. Her research will inform the creation of self-assessment media assets for use in a universal design for learning course at George Mason University.
- Jennifer Wilson, Ph.D., LCSW, Clinical Assistant Professor, Sacred Heart University. Wilson will create case study videos for use in online social work courses at Sacred Heart University, with the option for other Wiley partners to utilize the content. The project will include scripting, filming and producing eight case study vignettes.
- Margarete Zalon, Ph.D., RN, ACNS-BC, FLAAN, Professor of Nursing, Director of Online MS in Health Informatics program, The University of Scranton, and Beth Elias, Ph.D., MS, FHMISS, Adjunct Faculty, The University of Scranton. Zalon and Elias will work with their Wiley colleagues to integrate learning activities for electronic health records into a health informatics graduate program at The University of Scranton. Additionally, grant funds will sponsor student access to these technologic solutions for two years.
This is the second consecutive year that Wiley has awarded grants to university partners, said David Migliorese, Vice President of Academic Services at Wiley University Services.
