Lauren always had a drive to design for a purpose. After 15 years of designing at an agency in Chicago, she decided to use her skill set for good and made the shift to higher ed.
“Moving over into education was something that I was very passionate about. It’s the work that we do in Academic Services that impacts students and helps them get degrees, so it is very fulfilling work.”
Lauren joined Wiley in 2019 as a visual designer and soon grew into her current role as art director for our Academic Services team. She appreciates the collaborative environment and often works closely with our learning designers, video team, and partner institutions.
So, what’s a typical day look like for Lauren? She’s responsible for designing and creating assets to help build online courses. Whether it involves video and graphics templates, color palettes, or typography, she contributes to the look and feel of what our partner’s online brand space and courses look like. Lauren also finds creative ways to make learning more interactive and accessible, like using media and graphics to help students visualize their concepts along with the extended text. “The ability to see something, rebrand it, and then see it implemented in a successful way is very rewarding.”
Outside of Wiley, Lauren loves to spend quality time with her husband and six-and-a-half-year-old daughter. She goes on walks with her dog, hikes, and has recently taken up birdwatching. When Lauren isn’t outside exploring, she enjoys cooking and reading crime and fantasy novels.
